About Waltco Liftgate Switches
Waltco Liftgate Switches: Reliability and Control
Generally, speaking about a Waltco liftgate switch means referring to a bolt-on application that most likely came with the gate when it was originally purchased. That switch mounts to either the truck or the frame of the gate for easy access and helps to prevent losing the switch (not that we've ever done that).
However, Waltco has a variety of switches for every model of gate. Each gate has at least one switch, but possibly two, and even better, many of these have alternative options.
For example, the second switch that is usually an option on many models is a hand-held switch. Having the handheld options allows for gate operation while next to or on top of the gate's platform. This is worth quite a bit of effort when you have a one-man show or simply need to operate the gate from certain positions.
Some models like the WDV and the WDLRM models have two different liftgate switches, one inside upper switch and one outside lower switch. Also, keep in mind that Waltco has stopped manufacturing some switch styles and replaced them with new versions. For example, the well known Super Switch (80000425) has not been in production since 2014.
We understand that the wide variety of Waltco liftgate switches poses a challenge to making the right purchase. This is why Team LiftGateMe and Waltco’s support department work with customers to ensure success. All you need is the manufacturer's part number or your liftgate’s serial number. You can check your liftgate manual, call Waltco’s support or contact us to help you find the numbers you need.
